We have three separate soccer programs at GCAA:

GCAA Recreation Soccer offers programs for players of all skill levels between the ages of 2 and 18 years old.

The 4U thru 8U age divisions are co-ed teams, have group practices once a week, and have games on Saturdays that are refereed by coaches, with the exception of 4U, which has 2 showcases in lieu of weekly games.

For the 10U through 18U age divisions, boys and girls will be assigned to separate teams. They practice once a week and have games on Saturdays that are refereed by certified referees. These age divisions may require some local travel.

The Academy Soccer program is the bridge for 9U and 10U players as they move from Recreation Soccer towards Travel Soccer.

The Academy program is a player development program for committed young soccer players looking to advance to the next level of competitive play. At this level, we focus on individual player development with emphasis on technical skills and tactical knowledge. All players rotate positions and learn skills associated with these positions. Academy offers a positive, engaging, and rewarding experience that is not overtly focused on results (wins vs. losses). The idea is that we focus on developing the player and putting them in the best training situations with our best coaches, for a faster rate of growth within the game.
This program structure is endorsed by US Youth Soccer (USYS) and the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA)

Academy teams will generally have two practice sessions per week, lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes each.  Academy Soccer participants use the same Adidas uniform kit that GCAA Travel Soccer program uses. Academy Teams participate in the NCYSA Youth Academy Showcase at the end of every Fall and Spring season.

Assessments for Academy Soccer are held in May for the Fall season, with Supplemental Assessment held (if needed) in November/December for the Spring season. Learn More!

Cleveland United is powered by the Greater Cleveland Athletic Association (GCAA) which was originally formed in 1980, and eventually incorporated as a 501c(3) non-profit in 2005. Cleveland United’s focus is on providing a higher level of competitive soccer while providing area families with an affordable, fun, and flexible environment where players can develop into better soccer players.

Cleveland United is a member of the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association (NCYSA) which provides the premier environment for youth soccer at the highest levels of competition. We are an all volunteer run organization governed by NCYSA’s guidance to provide a safe, rewarding experience for young athletes. As a club, Cleveland United works hard to develop player’s skills on the field and provide an outlet for them to develop in their everyday lives as well to become great soccer players and great people.

All ages practice twice a week. Travel teams usually participate in tournaments that can be local or at a destination that requires overnight lodging. Learn more!
